Gravity

gravity...let me go
i want to fly
i want to run among the birds in the air
gravity...why wont you let me go?
i want to look down on the mountains
i want to sail between the sky scrapers
gravity...take your hold off of me
i want to recline in the clouds
i want to dance in the sunset
gravity...please let go of me
i want to fly

  • sorry...i was trying my hand at this poetry thing. i know i dont measure up to bri or kate or anyone else for that matter, but a john mayor song was on about gravity and i felt inspired. not bad for the first try, if i do say so myself (and i do).

  • OK, it makes me laugh pretty hard that you commented on your own post...but then I remembered that I've done that before too and laugh at myself at the same time. :-) I like these thoughts...I often ask people random questions - one of them being "if you could have any super-power which one would you choose?" And honestly, I feel like you can tell a lot about a person by asking this question. You can tell they have an adventurous, free spirit if they want to be able to fly...you can tell if they're a pervert if they want to have "x-ray" vision (haha), you can tell if they want to have a lot of power if they want to be a big strong invinsible guy...and yea. I've always, always, always wanted to be able to fly. Since I was a kid, I've had dreams at night where I can "fly" but really it's always more of a floating/swimming through the air thing - and man it's incredible. Gravity...it feels so limiting sometimes - I guess b/c it is - but I, like you, often wish that I could just beat it...that I could take off and "recline in the clouds" or "look down on the mountains" - man, how nice that would be.

  • PS: sky diving came pretty close...the closest i've ever been to "flying" -- if you're game for still doing it in the spring...i'm there :-)
